Halloween is always a good time. This year we made our way back to Arivaca for the town's festivities and their annual hayride that the Boys Ranch participates in.

Here are a few photos from the night...don't get scared!

He grabbed a hold of the trailer as we were driving down the road
because his battery powered scooter was just about out of juice.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween!

hello? Hello? anyone there?

Phone conversation with my little sis.
Me..."dang, my phone is beeping at me telling me that it's gonna die"

Bug..."that's funny, I was talking to someone just the other day and the person on the other end of the phone was asking me some halloween questions and I was totally giving her a ton of ideas for her party. You should do this and that. I got into this really good conversation and then asked...hey you there? I was totally talking to myself for like 10 minutes".

Me..."that's hiliarious, was she having a party or something"

Bug..."yeah, I was telling her this great idea and I was right to the part when you are just talking and nobody else has the floor except the speaker and then her......

Me....beep......(dead phone)

Me...laughing my head off!

sorry buggy! I really didn't do that on purpose, but wasn't that funny?

TODAY

A few things that held our attention today!

1. a BMX show at the girls school. It was incredible and my boys LOVED it, right along with the girlies! PLUS the weather was jacket/coat worthy. PERFECT, I must add!

2. Hot Chocolate with cream...oh yeah! Did I mention the weather being cooler and perfect! LOVE it!

3. Little Memphis boy...of course! What a dude. He was actually wearing a fleece outfit instead of just a onesie. I don't know if I posted that the weather was nice and chill and it was perfect.
Welcome fall.

Soccer update 09

This is the girls 1st year playing soccer and they LOVE it!
They can't get enough!
Lainie scored her first goal at her 2nd game and has since had many good attempts. She is growing and becoming more and more aggressive and comfortable out there on their field.
She is so lucky to have one of her best friends from school and church on her team. It's been fun to watch her.

Go Firecrackers!

Shelby is also becoming so much more aware of the field and loves playing. She scored her first goal on saturday and just about picked up another. she is fun to watch because she is so animated when the ball gets close to her. she is an animal! shelby has 2 girls from church on her team and their mom is the coach!

Go Blue diamonds!

I have to say...it's been fun watching my girls learn about team sports.
I have loved the fact that they are having a ball and really enjoying themselves. They are learning a great deal about sportsmanship, team work and communication. I also love that both of their coaches are teaching the fundamentals of the game, rather than just having them run up and down the field and kick the ball every where.

An Eye for an Eye for an Eye for an Eye

An eye can threaten like a loaded and levelled gun,
or it can insult like hissing or kicking;
or, in its altered mood, by beams of kindness,
it can make the heart dance for joy....
One of the most wonderful things in nature is a glance of the eye;
it transcends speech; it is the bodily symbol of identity.
~Ralph Waldo Emerson

wah wah all the way home!

Saturday night while traveling home from our mini vacation, exhausted might I add...my sweet lovie and I were treated to the soothing sounds of a wimpering child from the back of the vehicle.

Was she bleeding? I say nay
Was she suffereing from a broken bone? again I say nope
Was she dealing with the side effects of food poisoning? the answer would be no way
Was she fighting with a sibling? could very well be at any other time...but this time NO

Our sweet little child moaned and groaned and cried and blubbered for nearly 15 minutes over the fact that she didn't have the most "comfy" bed in the car.
**she picked the spot that she wanted to have before anyone else did, so my sympathy was all dried at this juncture.

"My bed is bumpy and I have trash by my feet so I can't stretch my legs out, everyone else has soft comfy places to sleep, Nobody loves me...boo hoo hoo" were the childs cries.

I tried explaining to this child that one of her siblings was sprawled out over 3 bumpy hard seat belts jammed in their back, while another layed with their head crammed up against the babies carseat, and lastly the 3rd child lay on the hard ground with no pillow or blankie..."so please child, try to get comfortable and go to sleep."

To no avail the little sweet wimpering child kept on keeping on about this tragic life that she had, so her father offered her a solution.

The solution was as follows and it was offered in the nicest, kindest voice
"sweet child, the only other place for you to sleep would be up on top of the car, would you like to sleep there?"

To his surprise the answer was a mumbled "yes".

Because we were needing to switching drivers at the time he stopped the car and then proceeded to open then door for the little girl. She climbed off the floor and out the door to the side of her daddy. He, then lifted her up to the luggage rack on the top of the car and told her to "hold on real tight because it's gonna get windy and she just might fall off."

To his surprise the answer was a smiling "okay" as she lays on her belly and holds on to the bars that were available for security.

I looked at her as I was walking around the car to get into the drivers seat and just had to laugh out loud at this sight. Just then Luke busted up laughing and grabbed her off the top of the car only to give her the disappointing news that she CAN NOT ride on the top of the car while traveling 75 mph down the interstate.

My poor little child was right back to crying...I am sure that exhaustion had nothing to do with her behavior (wink wink)
At that point we swapped places with an already sleeping child and of course all was well.

I just thought that was funny that she was dead serious about riding on top of the car..what does she think we are a bunch of circus people? well, she just might be right!
What a funny little girl!

Have you Ever seen such a thing?

Based on a true story...

Oh the joys of sweet saturday time with the family.

We decided that we needed some "out of the house" time for the family so we decided to see what the local community clubhouse had to offer.
The twirly slides, the sandbox, the basketball court, a minature golf game and the wonderful green grass that is so willing to let you trample over to get in some well needed fun.
Oh the joys...
After a few hours of fun and slight exhaustion we all exited the doors to be reacquainted with our transportation.
We had 2 scooters, one for Lainie and the other for Creed. We also had smallish bike for Carter, a stroller for Little Guy Memphis which was being pushed by Shelbs and then the parents had their feet. At this point everyone was under control and on their way home.
Creed gave up about half way home and brought the scooter to me....which I quickly turned into me riding with one foot on the back of the standing platform area, his two little feet riding in front of mine....while I pushed us down the road with my other foot. We do it all the time. It gets us places a bit faster and you know...it's good fun for both of us.

At this point I thought to my self...
"Self, we must be a cute little sight for passer-bys...to see this sweet family all traveling together down the road in  such a darling way...Lainie on her scooter with Carter on his bike as the leaders, Mama and Creed on the scooter buzzing right behind and then in the rear we have Pops with Shelby pushing the baby in the stroller.....yeah that's pretty cute".

I had a proud moment right then watching and observing my own family.

Minutes later I see Carter & Birdie collide 50 yards infront of me just past the intersection and right in front of some construction workers. I see Carter fly off his bike into the rocks and he is laying spread eagle off the sidewalk. Lainie survived the collision and stayed on her feet. In my mind I thought...I need to get across this road and over to that boy to see if he is okay....with Luke behind me...I was the closest parents to him, I had to get there!!
I proceed to take me and Creed off the sidewalk and down the decline of the curb on to the road. When I did that I pulled back just a bit to much on the handles of the scooter sending the bottom of the scooter forward fast and hard, the handles backwards into Creeds face...which in return sent Creed flipping onto his back. I am trying really hard to not step on Creed who is now directly under my feet on the road, poor guy.
I try and jump over him and keep the scooter from landing on his sweet face.....which in return sends my feet stepping high and my head getting closer and closer toward the black top road.

My feet aren't as quick as they use to be...they never did catch up to the upper portion of my body...which in return means that I am now doing a sweet looking volleyball roll across the road on to my back and then stopping abruptly onto my bottom.
right away I hear a voice from the Heavens saying
"are you okay?"
I looked around and couldn't find out where it's coming from...but instantly reply with a laughing voice "yes, I am fine" still not knowing who I am talking to.

I then caught the eye of my sweet dear husband that is walking just 50 ft behind me observing the whole thing. I see him trying not to laugh. At this point I can see in his face that he isn't sure if he should laugh, cry or see if we are okay. OR just keep walking and not claim that we are related.....which I think that's what he did.

I proceed to jump up, dust myself off, check my pants for any holes, grab poor little creed now with his black elbows from the newly paved road and just laugh out loud at myself. I laughed so hard that birdie thought I was hurt because I was crying from laughter.

I looked at Carter and Lainie to see if they had noticed their big mama doing gymnastics in the road with a scooter as the apparatus of choice....Yes...they sure did!
THey were busting a gut.
Finally collected and moving onto the ohter side of the road I noticed 3 or 4 contruction men standing around looking at me and I am sure wondering "Wow, working on Saturday was really a downer until we witnessed that. Now, Yes Now...I can tahnk my lucky stars I was here to see that extraordinary display of grace and hilarity."
And the voice that asked if I was okay..I finally realized where it had come from...it was a construction guy down in a manhole and only his little head was poking out. No wonder I couldn't find him. I can only imagine what it all looked like from his viewpoint....probably the same as everyone else...ridiculous!

Yes...good clean fun for the whole family to enjoy!

2 months of sweetness

My 2 month old sweet Memphis!

THE SILVER LINING IS IN MY MOUTH.

I hate going to dentists.

When I go there I feel so ashamed and like such a failure. I know that seems strange.

And also, might i add, dentists are a super forward and yet so controlling type of person.

I mean what type of person gets right up in your grill only to stare into your eyes, mouth and nose hair to ask you questions that you totally can't answer because your mouth has 3 hands in it?

Who does that?

I would say someone that wants all the control. They want to chat and ask about your weekend and your parents and then know that they have the control to answer it for you. Or try to make out the answers with the strange noises you make. IT's all about control I say! Control!

Dentist are so scary and uncomfortable to me. I feel like I have failed them when i go there and they find a cavity or a chipped tooth. I don't even really know these people, but for some reason I feel like a small child being scolded by their parent when the report comes back that I haven't flossed properly or brush up and down perfectly.

I went to the dentist last month for the first time in 3 years. I had to go there because while eating my favorite snack food, Carmel popcorn, I got a small piece stuck between the back two teeth. While flossing one night I pulled part of an old filling out. I had this smallish hole way back in the north forty of the mouth. I called and made an appointment and tried for the next week to show a brave face for my kids to see....only freaking out inside because I just don't, and really have never liked the dentists office.

Finally the day came and I headed into the office being overly excited to try and sike myself out and pretend I was happy to be there. The Dentist that I was seeing is super nice and reminds me a bit of my own dad. He is happy one minute and then in a flash can seem a little put out by the assistant not having the right tool in his hand at the precise moment. He would hoe and hum as his hand was reached out for "suction" or "drill" and it not be there ready to use. That did make for a bit of entertainment and took my mind off what was actually happening in my mouth.

Finally after the first evaluation was complete the verdict came back that it wasn't a dang filling missing it was just a tooth gone bad. I felt so small and so childish when he informed me that my tooth basically just caved in and he would have to fill it. He wasn't telling me in a way that was overbearing. In fact he put his hands together in a praying manner and then bent over ever so slightly like he was bowing to me. His eyebrows would crumpled together a bit like they were expressing their own amount of sympathy. Maybe this whole display of tenderness happened because he knew what was coming for me.

He proceeded to drill and drill and drill my tooth, till it was decay free and then filled it with a big glob of silver. I have in the past had other fillings replaced with this wonderful clean looking white product. I feel it just looks better...but he informed me that silver works better for back teeth. So in addition to having a sucky cavity now I have this nasty silver filling in the back of my mouth. I feel like I should be wearing a big red C on my chest.

Why is it that even when I was younger and had a cavity it was and is like I feel I have done something so wrong?

when you have a sore throat you see the doctor, right? RIGHT!

when you have a bad back you see the Chiro, correct? OH YeS!

when you have an infection you see they gyno? you know that's right!

and all those different docs don't make me feel anything like I feel when I see the dang dentist. Is it the fact that I can't talk back to him and explain my failures in my teeth maintenance? Is it the fact that he is so much in my comfort zone and just about kissing me that I feel so weirded out? Could it be that it was something that I did or didn't do that caused me to have to see him. Could it be the smell of the office? could it be the taste of the horrible mouth rinse they use...or that weird spit cup that sucks your lips down into it while you spit?

Dentist...hmmmm?

I hope to never go back!
